Hy-per Lube Zinc Replacement Additive, 355-mL | Canadian Tire
Our product is a synthetic version of Zinc or ZDDP which actually provides twice the anti-wear protection as compared to oils that previously contained between 1200 -1600 PPM of ZDDP (which was a standard level found in oils that used to contain ZDDP).

Tire-Derived Fuel | Scrap Tires | US EPA
The Agency supports the responsible use of tires in portland cement kilns and other industrial facilities, so long as the candidate facilities: (1) have a tire storage and handling plan; (2) have secured a permit for all applicable state and federal environmental programs; and (3) are in compliance with all the requirements of that permit.

Still, instead of clogging up landfills, most of the waste tyres are now used to make cement. The link between rubber and cement is complex, but cement companies have been burning rubber as part
Recycled Tyre Rubber Modified Bitumens for road asphalt
These tyres are among the largest and most problematic sources of waste, due to the large volume produced and their durability. The US Environmental Protection Agency reports that 290 million scrap tyres were generated in 2003 (EPA, 2007). Of the 290 million, 45 million of these scrap tyres were used to make automotive and truck tyre re-treads.

Composition of tyres. Tyres have a complex composition. Depending on their size and intended use they may vary in design, construction and total weight. The weight of a used passenger tyre in Europe is about 6.5kg but that of a truck tyre is about 53kg. These values and others are presented in Table 2. Chemical composition
After oil change knocking from tappets | Jeep Cherokee Talk
Actaully the FSM does not specify which exact viscousity. It does use 10w-30 as an example though. No Carl, not close enough. From the FSM: Excessive amounts of oil in the crankcase is never a good thing. Bad advice. Actually Chevron Delo400 is a better choice as it contains higher amounts of ZDDP (Zinc)
Mr. Gasket Zinc Engine Oil Additive - Holley Blog
Modern vehicles require minimal amounts of anti-wear additives in motor oil and emission requirements have removed ZDDP (which is short for Zinc dialkydithiophosphates) and other extreme anti-wear additives in modern motor oil. These additives are crucial for most vehicles manufactured before 1986 since they use flat tappet camshaft and lifters.
Oil change frequency | Toyota Nation Forum
ZDDP requires both metals working together to prevent wear under high temperatures and load. All engines require a certain amount of anti-wear additive, be it ZDDP, molybdenum or other ingredients. Back in the 1980s, motor oils usually contained around 1500 parts per million (ppm) of ZDDP.

There are lots of debates and posting on zinc, ZDDP, and phosphorus at BITOG, Hemmings, and others so I will not kick the hornets next here. The modern SN rated oils only have 600-800 ppm of zinc. Our first gens were designed to operate with SJ rated oils. SJ rated oils have 1,000-1,200 ppm of zinc.

Here's the Mobil1 chart of its ZDDP contents on oil I personaly only use ones with no less than 1000PPM to keep the wear to a minimum. Attached Images Last edited by carrera mike; 02-10-2014 at 05:05 PM .
